Catherine A. Gau, nee Mayer, 91, formerly of West Bend, died on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at Manor Care in Fond du Lac.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1912 in Mayville to the late Joseph and Eva (nee Stanestich) Mayer and married Walter W. Gau on Oct. 28, 1933 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mayville.

In 1957 her family moved to West Bend.

Catherine was employed at The West Bend Co. as a press operator, retiring in 1974.

She was a member of Holy Angels Parish in West Bend and the 25-Year Club at The West Bend Co.

Survivors include two children, Norman (Mary) of Campbellsport and Norbert (Donna) of Kewas-kum; a son-in-law, Dick Schroeder of Campbellsport; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Mike (Laura) Gau of Wausau; a sister-in-law, Marion Krautkramer of Marathon City; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were two daughters, Loretta Schroeder and Doris Schaus; a son, Peter; a brother, Joe Mayer; and two sisters, Rosie Roland and Helen Matuszewski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 at noon at Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Father John Wutscheck will be the presider, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the church only will be on Thursday from 10 to 11:45 a.m.
