Bernice J. Peterson
Bernice J. Peterson, nee Hartmann, 87, of Fredonia died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at Lasata Care Center, Cedarburg. She was born on Oct. 3, 1916 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Fred and Ida (nee Reinke) Hartmann, and she married Leroy Peterson on June 12, 1937 at St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Fillmore. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2002. Bernice was a member of St. Paul’s Community Church, Waubeka where she was a member of the choir. She enjoyed sewing. She also enjoyed cake decorating and she decorated her children’s wedding cakes. She is survived by five children, Donald (Barbara) Peterson of Random Lake, Beverly (Lyle) Falk of Fredonia, Mary (LaMoine) Gullickson of Brunswick, Ga., Willard (Donna) Peterson of Fredonia and Jean (Robert) Schommer of West Bend; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Loraine (Arnold) Kessel of Fredonia; two brothers, Harold Hartmann and Fredrick (Delephine) Hartmann, both of Fredonia; a sister-in-law, Marcella Chesak of West Bend; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Peterson Jr. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30 at St. Paul’s Community Church, Waubeka. Rev. David Jerger will officiate and burial will be in St. Martin’s Union Cemetery, Fillmore at 10 a.m., Monday. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of services Sunday. The Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, West Bend is serving the family.
