George Wiedenmeier

Funeral Services will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Open Door Bible Church in Port Washington for George Wiedenmeier of Grafton, who died on Aug. 14, 2003. Rev. Sid Litke will officiate at the ceremony. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Mr. Wiedenmeier was born June 15, 1914 in Fond du Lac, son of Joseph and Caroline Trummer Wiedenmeier. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Air Force and served overseas with the 496th Bomb Squadron, 334th Bomb Group. He fought offensive air campaigns in Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He was discharged in October of 1945. On June 24, 1949 he was united in marriage to Helen Baldwin in Beaver Dam. He held a degree in package engineering from Purdue University. He was a member at Open Door Bible Church in Port Washington, belonged to The Gideons International and enjoyed golf.

Survivors include: children Dr. Linda Baldwin of California, Susan (Ronald) Krueger of Cedarburg and George (the late Barbara) Wiedenmeier of Saukville.

He is further survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen; grandsons Eric and Benjamin Wiedenmeier; brother Frank; and sisters Norma, Elda and Estelle.

The family suggests memorials to Open Door Bible Church or The Gideons International.
