Verdie E. Gimmel, 86, of Hartford, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at Aurora Medical Center, Hartford.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1916 in Burnett, to the late Emil and Clara (nee Altman) Zilisch, and married Raymond C. Gimmel on Oct. 15, 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church in Burnett.

She lived in Burnett for two years and then moved to Beaver Dam and lived there until 1956 when she moved to Hartford.

Verdie was a member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church in Hartford, the Mission Society, LWMS and was an active member in volunteer work.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (Shirley) Gimmel of Oconomowoc; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Gimmel of Delmar, Iowa; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband; a son, Dr. Duane R. Gimmel; two sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, 1001 Center St., Hartford.

Rev. Daniel Westendorf will officiate, and interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation at the church will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
