A memorial service was held on Dec. 28 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Saukville for Ellen Freitag, who died on Dec. 21, 2002 at the age of 75. Rev. Donald Ellerman officiated at the ceremony, with Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, assisting the family with arrangements. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Saukville.

Mrs. Freitag was born July 25, 1927, daughter of Henry and Martha (Fedder) Bittner. She married Harvey Freitag on Feb. 20, 1948. She worked as an administrative assistant for Bolens Corp., then Northern Signal before retiring in the 1970s. She was a member of the Port Washington High School class of 1945, St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Saukville and the American Legion Post 470 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include: husband Harvey of Saukville; daughter Betsy (Rick) Ladwig of Grafton; son Bill (Linda) Freitag of Saukville; grandchildren Jennifer Freitag, Adam Ladwig and Ryan Ladwig; brother-in-law Robert Tietyen.

Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by brother Rolf Bittner and sister Ann Tietyen.
