Herbert H. Aspen, 80

Herbert H. Aspen, 80, of West Bend, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2002 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa.

He was born on June 17, 1922 in Neillsville to the late Ole and Minna (nee Schulz) Aspen and he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Carol Meilus on Nov. 7, 1942 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend. The couple lived in Mount Prospect, Ill. and Herbert was employed as a tool and die maker for Weber-Stephens in Palatine, Ill. for many years until retiring in 1990. In 1991 the couple moved back to West Bend.

He is survived by his wife Carol, three sons, Kris (Rita) Aspen of Fredericksburg, Va., Kurt (Darlene) Aspen of Mount Prospect, Ill. and Kent (Jen) Aspen of Cobden, Ill.; six grandchildren, Michelle Nauert, Kelly Aspen, Laura Aspen, Joshua Aspen, Carolyn Grace Aspen and Adeline Aspen; a great-grandson, Michael Nauert; a sister, Patricia (Milford) Tesmer of Neillsville, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, West Bend, with Rev. Sharon Stier officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of services and a reception will follow the service.

Inurnment of the cremated remains will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West  Bend.
