Irene H. Browning, nee Hrechko, 82, of West Bend, died on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Cedar Community.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1920, in Joliet, Ill., to the late Phillip and Anna (Grechko) Hrechko.

After her marriage to Harry J. Browning on July 4, 1943 at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Joliet, the couple lived in Aurora, Ill.

She was a secretary for various paper companies in both Illinois and Wisconsin, retiring in the early 1980s.

Irene was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Bend.

Her husband passed away in July, 1978.

Survivors include her loving son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Jo Browning of West Bend; she was the cherished grandmother of Shannon (Matthew) Michaels and Gregory Browning, both of Milwaukee; and the dear sister of Jim Hrechko of Homewood, Ill. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Hester Hrechko of Joliet; five nephews, Michael (Penny) Hrechko of Minooka, Ill., Jeff Hrechko of Homewood, Paul (Erin) Hrechko and Allison of Homewood, Martin Hrechko of Arizona and Richard (Julie) Hrechko of Joliet; three nieces, Cindy (Dick) Gallick of Minooka, Debbie Hrechko of Joliet and Lori (Doug) Snode of Channohan, Ill.; a special friend, Lynn McAlpin of Phoenix, Ariz.; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a sister and four brothers.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Homewood, with Fr. Dubie officiating.

A memorial service will also be held on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Bend, with Deacon Michael Koebel officiating.

Cremation took place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.
