Anthony J. "Tony" Berte

Anthony J. "Tony" Berte, 61, of Wauwatosa, formerly of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Milwaukee.

He was born on July 24, 1941, in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and Domenica (nee Foti) Berte, and came to West Bend in 1968 with his family.

Tony was a former employee of the American Motors Co., but was best known as a photographer in the West Bend area for many years, with weddings being his specialty.

He was an avid runner and Badgerland Strider member. It was common to see Tony running through the streets of West Bend, especially when training for the Lakefront Marathon.

He also enjoyed scuba diving, astronomy, archeology and movies.

Tony moved to Wauwatosa in 1986.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Doug) Hall of West Bend; his special granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hall of West Bend; two sisters, Josephine Berte and Grace (Norm) Nunemaker, both of Milwaukee; a niece, Anne Marie (Rick) Wolter, along with two nephews, Andrew (Leann) Nunemaker and Frank Berte; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Antonina Berte, and two brothers, Frank and Sam.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Cremation took place at Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service.
