Eugene A. Reimer

Eugene A. Reimer, 83, passed away at All About Life Rehabilitation Center in Fond du Lac on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002.

Gene was born in Ashford on March 24, 1919, to the late Frank and Loretta "Mae" (McEvoy) Reimer. He was baptized at and attended St. Martin's Church and School in Ashford.

His grandfather, Joseph Reimer was one of the stonemasons who built St. Martin's Church in the late 1860s.

Gene owned and operated Reimer Dairy in Hartford during the 1940s and 1950s. He retired from Manitowoc Crane in Manitiwoc and supplemented his retirement as a night watchman at a local foundry. It was difficult to get him to stop working.

Gene loved playing sheepshead and cribbage and could b e counted on winning most often. He seemed to have the "Luck of the Irish."

Survivors include his brother, George (Tootie) Reimer of Hartford; his sisters, Genevieve "Genny" Schwarz of Lomira and Helen (Peter) Purko of Milwaukee; eight children, David (Jeanne) Reimer of Hartford, Steven Reimer (Kathe Scheibe) of rural Oconomowoc, Mark (Jean) Reimer of Plymouth, Chris (Doug) Yarbrough of New Albany, Ind., Ned (Denise) Reimer of Madison, Heidi (Dave) Mrozinsky of Manitowoc, John (Theresa) Reimer of Two Rivers and Nick (Julie) Reimer of Manitowoc; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many loving friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Joe; two sisters, Frances Esser and Catherine "Katie" Kleinhans; and three brothers-in-law, Frank Esser, Doc Kleinhans and Peter Purko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Martin's Church in Ashford.

Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow the interment.

Visitation at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. All are welcome.

The family thanks All About Life Rehabilitation Center for the quality care they provided Gene in his stay there.

Gene will be dearly missed by many friends and family alike. We thank God for his full and happy life. Gene's positive attitude brought much joy to his family.
