Edward F. Semrad

Edward F. Semrad, 92, of Hartford, passed away on Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at Hartford Care Center.

He was born on Dec. 11, 1909, in Dubuque, Iowa, to the late Frank and Mary Semrad, and married Erma Pitkin in 1929 in Dubuque.

His wife passed away on Nov. 22, 1991.

He served his country during World War II aboard the battleships, the USS Idaho and the USS Massachusetts.

Ed worked at Libby's Canning Co. for 30 years.

He loved to fish and garden and the many vegetables he raised he gave to his neighbors.

Ed had many friends that he would meet at Granddad's Bakery and enjoy fellowship and pastry.

He was a member of Hartford American Legion Post 19.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Pearl Courtner of California; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford, with entombment in Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
