Evelyn Mentzel

Funeral services were held on Dec. 27 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton for Evelyn Mentzel, who died on Dec. 20 at the age of 81. Rev. John Suelflow officiated at the ceremony with funeral arrangements handled by Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mentzel was born Feb. 28, 1920 in Port Washington, daughter of Jacob and Helen (Blumenberg) Dahm. She married Alfred Mentzel at St. Paul Lutheran Church on May 1, 1943. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was active in various groups.

Survivors include: husband Alfred Mentzel; children Alfred L. (Annette) of Grafton, Carol Kempke of Waukesha, Robert (Barbara) Mentzel of Tulsa, Okla., Helen (Patrick) Lewis of Great Falls, Mont.; grandchildren Timothy (Julia) Mentzel, Bryan (Diana) Mentzel, Kristin (Phill) Ulmen, Lori (Robert) Marien, Greg Kempke, Vicki Kempke, Katie Mentzel, Leah Mentzel, Brandon (Crystal), Jennifer and Michael Lewis; great-grandchildren Taylor, Tyce, Alex, Sarah and Zoe; sisters-in-law Erna Dahm and Gertrude Mentzel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Douglas and LeRoy Dahm and sister Betty Groth.
