Dale A. Briggs

Dale A. Briggs, 74, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at the Clement Zablocki Veterans Administration Center, Milwaukee.

He was born May 21, 1927, in the town of Lamartine, to the late Lynn and Elsie (Phelps) Briggs.

Dale was a graduate of Fond du lac Senior High School and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

He was service manager for Culligan for 23 years, an apartment manager in West Bend, and while residing in California he worked for Pinkerton Security. Most recently he drove for Johnson Bus Service, Fond du Lac, and Rare Elegance Limousine Service in Oshkosh.

Dale was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Lamartine, and a member of Bohlman-Grimes VFW Post #1904 in Fond du Lac.

He volunteered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, helping with golf.

Dale enjoyed roller skating, was an avid motorcycle rider, ham radio operator, and enjoyed being a member of the "Birthday Club."

He was a member of the Communication Patrol in West Bend.

Survivors include a daughter, Ellen (Joseph) Bednarek of Fond du Lac; two sons, Jerry (Deborah) Briggs and Thomas (Jeanne) Briggs, both of Butler; two stepsons, Joe (Norma) Stein of Fremont, Calif. and Steve (Mary) Stein of West Bend; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice (Les) Egbert of McLean, Va.; a brother, Alvin (Virginia) Briggs of Algoma; two sisters-in-law, Helen Keller of West Bend and Josephine Totsky of Milwaukee; nieces; nephews; and special friends.

Visitation at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, Fond du Lac, will be Monday, Dec. 31, from 9 until the funeral services at 11:30 a.m.

Rev. Barry Watson will officiate, and Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military services. Cremation will follow the services.
