Robert A. Vogelsang
Robert A. Vogelsang, 84, of Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mayville. He was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Hartford, to the late Adolph and Lillian (nee Raddeman) Vogelsang, and married Tillie Desimowich on May 20, 1948, at Peace Lutheran Church Parsonage. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bob and Tillie ran Vogelsang's in Hartford for over 23 years and were known for great food and hospitality. Tillie passed away on Jan. 18, 2001. Robert was a member of the Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post #19, Hartford VFW Post #8834, Hartford Senior Friends and Peace Lutheran Church. Survivors include a brother, Mickey (Betty) Vogelsang of Hartford; a sister-in-law, Helen DeMolten of Dearborn, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Arnold Hartmann of Mayville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were a brother, Elmer; a sister, Bernice Bartosch; three sisters-in-law, Mary Henning-Troeller, Stella Hartmann and Patricia Boettcher-Tate; and two brothers-in-law, Henry and Casimer Desimowich. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29 at noon at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford. Rev. Daniel Westendorf will officiate, and interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church only on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.
