Frederic W. Schloemer

Frederic W. Schloemer, 83, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of West Bend, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.

He was born Jan. 15, 1918, in West Bend, to the late Fred J. and Ida (nee Wagner) Schloemer and married Beulah E. Schroeder on Nov. 6, 1943, at Capital Drive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.

Fred graduated from West Bend High School in 1935, and served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until his discharge in 1945.

After the war he worked at Schlegel's Bakery for 15 years and then at West Bend Concrete Products as a dispatcher for 25 years, retiring in 1977.

His travels took him to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and Baja, and he enjoyed his fishing trips to Cranberry Portage, Manitoba for 24 years.

In his later years he became an avid golfer.

Fred often volunteered in the kitchen at Siesta Bay R.V. Park when he spent the winters in Fort Myers. He was noted for his special pancakes at campouts.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Beulah; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Leona Pagel.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family.
