Harold W. "Jake" Shaw Sr.
Harold W. "Jake" Shaw Sr., 77, of West Bend, formerly of West Salem, Wis., died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at his residence. He was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Richland County, town of Eagle, Wis., to the late Leo and Elizabeth (Simpson) Shaw, and was raised in Hartford. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He married Nancy A. Piscitello on Feb. 10, 1945, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Easton, Pa., and after the service the couple lived in Hartford, Milwaukee, Beaver Dam and West Salem. Jake had a career in law enforcement and later worked as director of security for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He was a life member of the VFW of Hartford Post 8834, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Survivors include his wife; two children, Harold W. Jr. (Janice) Shaw of West Bend and Keith Shaw of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Michelle, Jill, Christen and Christopher; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death was a son, Terrence. Private services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 25, at 10:45 a.m. at his home, with Rev. Louis Riesch officiating. Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Service of West Bend, and interment of ashes will be in St. Kilian's Cemetery, Hartford. The Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, is assisting the family.
