Eldon O. "Buck" Spradau

Eldon O. "Buck" Spradau, 81, of Campbellsport, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1922, in Elmore to the late Arnold and Ella (Klein) Spradau, and on March 20, 1943, married Vera Ford at St. Matthew's Church, Campbellsport. She passed away on July 16, 1985. He married Dolores Heisler on Nov. 12, 1988 at St. Matthew's Church, Campbellsport.

Eldon entered the U.S. Army on March 17, 1943, serving in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He received his honorable discharge on Jan. 23, 1946.

Starting in 1946 he worked for the village of Campbellsport as clerk, assessor, treasurer, head of the water department and police chief.

He retired in 1990 and enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling to Arizona, gardening, playing cards and little trips to Keshena.

Eldon was a 49-year member of the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service for which he served as secretary for a number of years. He was also a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cheryle (David) Schellhaass of Campbellsport; a son, Thomas (Pam) Spradau of Bollingbrook, Ill.; a stepson, Rick (Barb) Heisler of Campbellsport; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Margie) Spradau of Mayville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport, following a prayer service at 10 a.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport.

Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac, the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department, St. Matthew's Church or the Campbellsport Scholarship Foundation.
