Elbert A. Yagow

Elbert A. Yagow, 87, of West Bend, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Altamont, Ill., to the late Herman and Dorothea (Reh-wald) Yagow, and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in journalism.

He was employed at Gimbels/Schuster of Milwaukee and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was then employed at J.C. Penny Co. of Milwaukee as a manger for over 30 years, retiring in 1974.

After retirement, Elbert became an insurance agent for several companies for over 25 years.

He married Beata E. Hoessel, who passed away in 1970. On Aug. 26, 1971, he married M. Nanette Exton in Kenosha.

Survivors include his wife; eight children, John (Beverly) Yagow of Watertown, Phillip (Julie) Yagow of Mount Horeb, Daniel (Vikki) Yagow of Denver, Colo., Carol Haubrich of Kansas City, Mo., Janet (Michael) Young of West Bend, Paul (Cheryl) Haubrich of McKinney, Texas, Brad (Barbara) Haubrich and Warren (Wendi) Haubrich, both of West Bend; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a son, Arthur Yagow.

Elbert was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of West Bend and co-founder of The Coffee Ministry and was also a member of the West Bend Kiwanis, Retired Penney's Club, American Legion of West Bend and W.A.L.U.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Pastor Oscar Kraft will officiate, and interment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.
