Bares A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Parish, Holy Cross Chapel in the Town of Belgium for Rosalia Bares of Port Washington, who died on Dec. 3, 2001 at the age of 88. The ceremony will be preceded by family rites at 9:30 a.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington. Father James Ernster will officiate at the ceremony with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday after 9 a.m. Mrs. Bares was born Oct. 8, 1913 in Dacada, daughter of Michael and Lucy (Becker) Streff. She married Syl Bares at Immaculate Conception Church in Saukville on April 18, 1936. The couple farmed in the town of Port Washington until retiring. She was a member of Holy Rosary Parish-Holy Cross Chapel in Belgium, the Catholic Knights, Christian Mothers, Royal Neighbors, Good Samaritan Guild and the Apostolate of Suffering. Survivors include: husband Syl Bares of Port Washington; daughters Arlene (the late Walter) Jentges of Port Washington, Audrey (Alvin) Schueller of Belgium and June (Gene) Grandlic of Cedarburg; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Peter, Edward and Demi.
