Brunner
Leo A. Brunner, 93, of West Bend, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital. He was born April 6, 1907, in Barton to the late Theodore and Hulda (nee Schiemann) Brunner, and married Marilynne Wiltgen. He later married Floretta Mauer on June 16, 1951, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend. Leo worked as an intake foreman at the White House Milk Co. in West Bend for several years and then worked as a self-employed painter for many years until retiring from painting in 1972. He also operated Brunner's Orchard for over 50 years where he grew apples, raspberries and strawberries and had the first "pick your own" strawberries in the area. Leo loved hunting and trapping. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Beverly (Ray) Ertl of West Bend and their children, Susan Spencer of Orange Grove, Texas, Mark Ertl of Muskego, Michael (Rose-Ann) Ertl of West Bend and Sharon (Michael) Mouradian of West Bend; a son, Donald (Phyllis) Maurer of West Bend and their children, Eileen Hanrahan of Kewaskum, Lori Schmidt of West Bend, Terry (friend Angie) Maurer of West Bend, Gary (Amy) Maurer of Kewaskum and Kevin Maurer of West Bend; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Jack and Eugene, and a sister, Evelyn Verberg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Sharon Stier of Immanuel United Church of Christ will officiate and burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at 10 a.m. on Friday. Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials to the Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.
