Jorge L. Tamez Sr., 65, of West Bend, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 at his residence.

Born in Mexico City, Mexico to Rafael and Emma (Garcia) Tamez on Dec. 31, 1934, he married Lourdes Lavoignet on April 1, 1956 in Mexico City.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Jorge came to the United States in 1967, moving to West Bend in 1970.

He was employed at Amity Leather Products of West Bend for over seven years, later working for Level Valley Creamery for 17 years, retiring in 1999. He was currently working at Cedar Home Campus doing general maintenance.

He is survived by four children; Jorge (Kelly) Tamez Jr. of West Bend, Gerado (Cassy) Tamez of West Bend, Leticia Tamez and Jaciel Tamez, both of West Bend; nine grandchildren; one sister, Sara Tamez of Cuernavaca, Mexico and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Parish, West Bend, with Father Patrick Wendt officiating. Cremation took place at Parkview Cremetory in Fond du Lac, with interment of ashes at St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Bend.

Memorials are appreciated to the American Diabetes Association.
