Conway David J. Conway, 90, of Slinger, formerly of Milwaukee, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2000, at the Hartford Care Center, Hartford. He was born April 14, 1910, in Milwaukee, to the late Michael and Mathilda (Lux) Conway, and married Bertha A. Walz at St. Mathew's Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked for Pabst Brewery for over 24 years as a carpenter, retiring in 1973. David became a locksmith after retirement, as a hobby. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bonnie (Mark) Monroe of Slinger; two grandsons, Mark II and Matthew; a granddaughter, Jena Michelle; a sister, June (Everette) Taylor of Grafton; two sisters-in-law, Emma Niesl of Milwaukee and Viola Manning of Jacksonville, Fla.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were three sisters and a brother. He was a member of the Pabst American Legion Post of Milwaukee, N.C.O.A. of Port Richie, Fla., the VFW Post 3358 of Slinger, the Hartford #120 F&AM Masonic Lodge and St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Slinger. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Slinger. Pastor Alan Lindberg will officiate, and cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac with interment of ashes at Valhalla at a later date. Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials are appreciated to St. Luke's Lutheran Church. The Phillip Funeral Home, Slinger, is assisting the family.
